Aart van der Linde remains closer to his original brewing craft by distilling whisky than many people think. This single malt whisky is made of 100% malt from our own malt house. First it's whisky beer. The difference with regular beer is that there is no hop added, and it is nog cooked. Through a process of fermentation we get alcohol in a natural way.

When it's finished fermenting, it goes into a distillation kettle and the distilling process starts. We do this the Scottish way; twice. Then the whisky is stored in fresh oak casks sourced from France, Portugal and Spain. These casks are very important for the maturation process. It must be used wine, cognac, port or sherry casks. Then the whisky has got three or five years time to get the right 'Golden Spirit of Frisia'-character.



After maturing the Frysk Hynder whisky is bottled in a bottle, which is appropriately closed with a tin Frysk Hynder cork. The bottle is also provided with a handwritten label giving information about, among other things, when the whisky is distilled, by whom, what type of cask the whisky was matured in etc.
